How to Get
Supplies:
After-schools programs may use existing parts, tools and supplies, order
them on line or contract with Build-It-Yourself to buy and ship
appropriate supplies.
All Projects:
All projects require 1 computer per 3 students with high speed access to
the Internet and PowerPoint installed. An additional computer with a
Webcam and speaker/mic set is required for the workshop manager.
(See Webcast Support)
Construction
Projects:
The basic tools and supplies below are used in all construction workshops.
Most can be purchased on line or at a local craft or at a hardware
shop. Many schools may already have these supplies.
Specific parts
are required for various projects. LEGO projects will require an
investment of less than $1500 to serve classes of 12 students over many
workshop series. Non-LEGO projects will require an investment of
between $100 and $1000 depending on the project.
Virtual
Projects:
Virtual projects such as Scratch, Web Design, and Digital Media Design use
freeware in addition to PowerPoint.
